Great Jones: Bakeware That Makes You Happy

Great Jones Bakeware

Apart from one infamous brand — it rhymes with Shmay Shmuset — there has been little advancement in the colorizing of bakeware. It’s not exactly a high priority feature for pans, given that home bakers would rather have a drab, gray muffin tin that evenly cooks all our cupcakes. But what if we didn’t have to sacrifice form for function?

Launched by a team of women in Greenwich Village in 2018, Great Jones creates cookware that makes you smile. The Dutchess ($205) was its breakout hit product, the success of which has bred a whole line of colorful kitchen items, but it’s the bakeware that caught my eye.

Despite my elder-millennial desire to outfit my countertops entirely in neutral colors, I have to admit that I secretly love jewel tones. How could one not love a bright blue muffin tin? Could anyone look at a hot pink loaf pan and not wish to fill it with fresh bread? Who amongst us wouldn’t be inspired to bake rolls when given an an evergreen cake pan?

Surely there must be a catch, I thought. Does the color peel off? Will my focaccia still to the pan, despite loads of fancy, garlic-infused olive oil? Will the Holy Sheet pans do that weird thing where they snap halfway through cooking? (This phenomenon terrifies me.)

Nope! These pans are:

  • Totally nonstick

  • Made with a nontoxic coating

  • Dishwasher-friendly

  • Oven-friendly (duh)

  • Hella cute

I love them, and if I’m to take this sweetheart pan as a sign of devotion, they love me back.
