This Soft, Stretchy Button-Up Is Working Overtime in My Wardrobe

Panache Apparel Mindi Shirt

As a resident of the Pacific Northwest, we’re required to replant a tree for every one we remove (even if it’s dying because the power company cut the top off of it), take our dogs to the sandy dog area between the months of October and May because the regular park is inevitably a mud pit, and lastly, be the steadfast keepers of closets full of flannels.

You’ll get no arguments from me. I love a flannel. Shirts from Rails are on my list of “gifts to buy when you’re stumped” I keep handy for my husband. (For the record, his list is longer and filled with Criterion Collection Blu-rays, neatly separated into “seen” and “not seen” columns.)

I hadn’t heard of Panache Apparel when their rep reached out about sampling some items, which makes sense. They’re a small business based in Minnesota with a large selection of what I would categorize as Bachelorette Party Chic items: “Day Drinker Weather” sweatshirts, “Wanderlust” duffels, and “Sunshine & Champange” tees, etc. Cute, but not my vibe as a suburban, non-drinking mom.

I migrated to the button up section, where I met my new best friend: Mindi. Made of rayon, acrylic, and spandex, Mindi made me question why I ever thought cotton was a premium fabric. Cotton, shmotton — this sh*t is stretchy!

I have a tendency to roll my sleeves up (literally) several times a day. It’s my version of Violet Baudelaire’s hair-tying “let’s get down to business” habit. The stretchy fabric lets me slid the sleeves up with ease. It’s a small thing, but it makes a big difference when I’m juggling kids and trying to get the dishes done.

The velvety smooth fabric has gotten me through the harsh PNW winter and I especially love this piece layered under a vest. (If you’re listening, Panache Apparel, please send this perfect-for-spring vest!)

Mindi comes in three colors, which, when put in a lineup, remind me a bit of a scoop of Neapolitan ice cream. I have the pink but I might spring for the other colors, too. Did I mention you can get all three for the price of one Rails shirt? Done and done. Here are the links:
